John Dalrymple, 3rd Earl of Stair
John Dalrymple, 3rd Earl of Stair (1679–1747), was a Scottish nobleman and politician known for his role in the {Jacobite} uprisings. He served as a military officer and was involved in various political affairs during a tumultuous period in Scottish history. His family held significant influence, and he was a prominent figure in the {Scottish Parliament}.
Dalrymple was also known for his contributions to the {Scottish Enlightenment} and his efforts in promoting the interests of Scotland. He was a supporter of the {Union of 1707}, which united the {Kingdom of England} and the {Kingdom of Scotland} into the {Kingdom of Great Britain}.
