Joash (King of Judah)
Joash, also known as Jehoash, was a king of Judah who reigned for 40 years during the 9th century BCE. He became king at a young age, after being hidden from his grandmother, Athaliah, who sought to kill him. Under the guidance of the high priest Jehoiada, Joash initiated significant religious reforms, including the restoration of the Temple of Solomon.
During his reign, Joash focused on repairing the temple and restoring proper worship practices. He also faced challenges from neighboring kingdoms, including Israel. Despite his early successes, Joash later turned away from the worship of Yahweh, leading to his downfall and assassination.
