Jehoiada was a high priest in ancient Israel, known for his significant role during the reign of King Joash. He was instrumental in protecting the young king from the usurper Athaliah, who sought to eliminate the royal line of David. Jehoiada organized a coup to overthrow Athaliah and restore Joash to the throne. In addition to his political actions, Jehoiada was a devoted religious leader. He worked to restore the worship of Yahweh in the temple and encouraged the people of Judah to turn away from idolatry. His leadership helped to stabilize the kingdom during a tumultuous period in its history.
