Guy Gibson
Guy Gibson was a British Royal Air Force officer and pilot, best known for leading the famous Dambusters Raid during World War II. Born on August 12, 1918, in Simla, India, he joined the RAF in 1936 and quickly rose through the ranks due to his exceptional flying skills.
Gibson commanded the 617 Squadron, which was tasked with destroying key German dams using innovative bouncing bombs developed by Barnes Wallis. The successful raid on May 16-17, 1943, significantly damaged Germany's industrial capacity and made Gibson a national hero, earning him the Victoria Cross for his bravery.
