Elizabeth of Hainaut
Elizabeth of Hainaut was a 14th-century noblewoman, born around 1320 in Hainaut, a region in present-day Belgium. She was the daughter of Count William I of Hainaut and Joanna of Valois. Elizabeth became the queen consort of Edward III of England when she married him in 1328, strengthening ties between England and Hainaut.
As queen, Elizabeth played a significant role in the royal court and was known for her piety and charitable works. She had several children, including Edward, the Black Prince, who would become a prominent figure in English history. Elizabeth's legacy is marked by her contributions to the English monarchy and her influence on her children's lives.
