Dedé Mirabal
Dedé Mirabal was a Dominican activist known for her role in opposing the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo. She was born on March 1, 1925, in the town of Ojo de Agua, Dominican Republic. Dedé was the only surviving sister of the Mirabal Sisters, who were involved in the underground movement against Trujillo's regime.
After the assassination of her sisters, Patria, Minerva, and Maria Teresa, on November 25, 1960, Dedé became a symbol of resilience and courage. She dedicated her life to preserving their legacy and advocating for human rights, ultimately becoming a prominent figure in the fight against oppression in the Dominican Republic.
