Codex Mendoza
Codex Mendoza is an important historical document created in the 16th century, shortly after the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. It was commissioned by Antonio de Mendoza, the first viceroy of New Spain, to provide a record of the Aztec people, their tribute system, and their daily life.
The codex is divided into three sections: the first details the history of the Aztec rulers, the second illustrates the tribute paid by various regions, and the third depicts everyday life and customs. It is a valuable resource for understanding Mesoamerican culture and the impact of European colonization.
