Cestius
Cestius was a Roman general and politician who served during the late Roman Republic. He is best known for his military campaigns in the eastern provinces, particularly in Syria and Judea. His leadership contributed to the expansion of Roman influence in these regions.
In addition to his military role, Cestius is often associated with the Cestius Gallus, a notable figure in Roman history. His actions during the First Jewish-Roman War were significant, as he led an unsuccessful campaign against the Jewish forces in Jerusalem in 66 CE, which ultimately set the stage for further conflict.
