Bruneian Cuisine
Bruneian cuisine reflects the rich cultural heritage of Brunei, influenced by Malay, Chinese, and Indian flavors. Rice is a staple food, often served with various dishes, including nasi lemak, a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk, and satay, skewered and grilled meat served with peanut sauce.
Seafood is also prominent in Bruneian meals, given the country's coastal location. Popular dishes include ikan bakar, grilled fish marinated with spices, and sambal, a spicy chili paste that accompanies many meals. Traditional desserts, like kuih, are made from rice flour and coconut, adding sweetness to the cuisine.
