Alkalosis
Alkalosis is a medical condition characterized by an increase in the pH level of the blood, making it more alkaline than normal. This can occur due to various factors, including excessive loss of carbon dioxide through rapid breathing, or an overconsumption of alkaline substances like certain antacids.
Symptoms of alkalosis may include muscle twitching, hand tremors, and confusion. It can be classified into two main types: respiratory alkalosis, caused by breathing issues, and metabolic alkalosis, resulting from metabolic processes. Treatment typically focuses on addressing the underlying cause to restore normal pH levels.
