Respiratory Alkalosis
Respiratory alkalosis is a condition that occurs when the body’s carbon dioxide levels drop too low, usually due to rapid or deep breathing. This can happen during anxiety attacks, high altitudes, or certain medical conditions. The decrease in carbon dioxide leads to an increase in blood pH, making it more alkaline.
Symptoms of respiratory alkalosis may include dizziness, lightheadedness, tingling in the fingers and toes, and muscle cramps. Treatment often focuses on addressing the underlying cause, such as calming anxiety or adjusting breathing patterns. In some cases, medical professionals may provide supportive care to help restore normal breathing.
