Metabolic Alkalosis
Metabolic Alkalosis is a condition where the body's pH level becomes too high, indicating increased alkalinity. This can occur due to various factors, such as excessive vomiting, overuse of diuretics, or an imbalance of electrolytes like bicarbonate. The body’s normal pH range is about 7.35 to 7.45, and when it rises above this range, it can disrupt normal bodily functions.
Symptoms of Metabolic Alkalosis may include muscle twitching, hand tremors, and confusion. Treatment typically focuses on addressing the underlying cause, such as replenishing lost fluids or adjusting medications. Monitoring and managing electrolyte levels are also crucial for restoring balance.
