maple sugaring season
Maple sugaring season occurs in late winter to early spring, typically from February to April, when temperatures fluctuate between freezing at night and warmer during the day. This temperature change causes the sap in maple trees to flow, allowing sugar makers to collect it for processing.
During this season, sugar houses are busy as the collected sap is boiled down to create maple syrup. It takes about 40 gallons of sap to produce one gallon of syrup. Many regions, especially in the northeastern United States and Canada, celebrate this season with festivals and educational events.
