Colugos, also known as flying lemurs, are unique mammals found primarily in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Despite their name, they are not true lemurs and belong to their own order called Dermoptera. Colugos are known for their remarkable gliding ability, which they achieve through a large membrane of skin that stretches from their neck to the tips of their fingers, toes, and tail.
These nocturnal creatures are primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, fruits, and flowers. Colugos have large eyes adapted for night vision and are excellent climbers, spending most of their time in trees. Their distinctive appearance includes a flattened body and a long tail, making them well-suited for life in the canopy.
