flying lemurs
Flying lemurs, also known as colugos, are unique mammals found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Despite their name, they are not true lemurs but belong to their own order called Dermoptera. These creatures are known for their remarkable ability to glide through the trees, thanks to a large membrane of skin that stretches from their neck to their fingertips and toes.
With a body length of about 15 to 16 inches, flying lemurs have a flattened body and large eyes, which help them navigate in low light. They primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers, using their sharp teeth to chew through tough plant material. Their gliding ability allows them to move efficiently between trees in search of food and to escape predators.
