Zen Buddhists
Zen Buddhists are practitioners of a branch of Buddhism that emphasizes meditation and direct experience. Originating in China as Chan Buddhism, it later spread to Japan and became known as Zen. The core practice involves seated meditation, or zazen, which helps individuals gain insight into their true nature and the nature of reality.
Zen teachings often focus on simplicity, mindfulness, and living in the present moment. Zen Buddhists may engage in various practices, including koan study, which involves contemplating paradoxical questions to transcend logical thinking. The goal is to achieve enlightenment, or satori, through personal experience rather than reliance on scriptures.
