ZIPRA
ZIPRA, or the Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army, was the military wing of the Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU). It was formed in the 1960s during the struggle against British colonial rule and later against the white-minority government in Rhodesia. ZIPRA aimed to achieve independence for Zimbabwe through armed struggle.
The organization was known for its guerrilla warfare tactics and received support from countries like the Soviet Union and Cuba. After Zimbabwe gained independence in 1980, ZIPRA was integrated into the national army, marking the end of its military operations and the beginning of a new political landscape in the country.
