William II of England
William II of England, also known as William Rufus, was the son of William the Conqueror and ruled as King of England from 1087 to 1100. He was known for his strong leadership and efforts to consolidate royal power, often clashing with the nobility and the church. His reign was marked by military campaigns in Wales and Scotland.
William II's rule ended abruptly when he died in a hunting accident in the New Forest. His death led to a succession crisis, as he had no legitimate heirs. He was succeeded by his brother, Henry I, who would go on to strengthen the monarchy further.
