Wendish language
The Wendish language, also known as Sorbian, is a Slavic language spoken primarily in eastern Germany, particularly in the regions of Lower Sorbian and Upper Sorbian. It is part of the West Slavic group of languages and has two main dialects, which are recognized for their unique linguistic features and cultural significance.
Wendish is closely tied to the Sorbs, a Slavic ethnic group that has preserved its language and traditions for centuries. Despite facing challenges such as declining speakers and cultural assimilation, efforts are ongoing to revitalize the language through education and media, ensuring its survival for future generations.
