Upper Sorbian
Upper Sorbian is a Slavic language spoken primarily in the region of Saxony, Germany. It is one of the two Sorbian languages, the other being Lower Sorbian. Upper Sorbian is used by the Sorbs, a Slavic ethnic group, and has around 30,000 speakers. The language is recognized as a minority language and is supported by local educational institutions and media.
The Upper Sorbian language has its own unique grammar and vocabulary, influenced by both German and other Slavic languages. It is written using the Latin alphabet and has a rich literary tradition, with works ranging from poetry to prose. Efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote Upper Sorbian culture and language in the face of declining speaker numbers.
