Walter Ruttmann
Walter Ruttmann was a German filmmaker and painter, born on December 28, 1887, in Frankfurt am Main. He is best known for his pioneering work in the field of experimental cinema, particularly for his 1927 film Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, which is a visual and auditory exploration of urban life in Berlin. Ruttmann's innovative techniques combined music and imagery, influencing future generations of filmmakers.
In addition to his work in film, Ruttmann was also involved in graphic design and painting. He contributed to the Weimar Republic cultural scene and was associated with the German Expressionism movement. Ruttmann's artistic vision and experimentation laid the groundwork for modern documentary and avant-garde cinema. He passed away on March 15, 1941.
