Vocal Tic
A vocal tic is an involuntary sound made by a person, often characterized by repetitive noises such as throat clearing, grunting, or humming. These tics can occur in various conditions, including Tourette syndrome, and may vary in frequency and intensity. Vocal tics are not typically under the individual's control and can be triggered by stress or excitement.
Vocal tics can affect people of all ages but are most commonly observed in children. They may improve or worsen over time and can sometimes be accompanied by motor tics, which involve involuntary movements. Treatment options include behavioral therapy and, in some cases, medication to help manage symptoms.
