Tourette syndrome
Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. These tics can be motor, such as blinking or head jerking, or vocal, like grunting or throat clearing. The severity and frequency of tics can vary over time and often improve with age.
The exact cause of Tourette syndrome is not fully understood, but it is believed to involve genetic and environmental factors. It often begins in childhood, typically between the ages of 5 and 10, and is more common in boys than girls. Early diagnosis and support can help manage symptoms effectively.
