Verghese Kurien
Verghese Kurien was an Indian social entrepreneur best known for his role in the White Revolution, which transformed India into one of the largest producers of milk and dairy products. He founded the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and was instrumental in establishing the popular brand Amul. His efforts helped improve the livelihoods of millions of dairy farmers across the country.
Born on November 26, 1921, in Calicut, Kurien studied engineering and later pursued a career in dairy development. He received numerous awards for his contributions, including the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Vibhushan. His legacy continues to influence the dairy industry in India.
