Venezuelan Socialism
Venezuelan Socialism refers to the political and economic system implemented in Venezuela, particularly under the leadership of Hugo Chávez from 1999 until his death in 2013. This system aimed to redistribute wealth and resources, focusing on social welfare programs, nationalization of key industries, and increased government control over the economy. The government sought to reduce poverty and inequality through initiatives in education, healthcare, and housing.
After Chávez's death, his successor, Nicolás Maduro, continued these policies, but the country faced severe economic challenges, including hyperinflation and shortages of basic goods. Critics argue that the government's approach led to mismanagement and corruption, exacerbating the crisis and leading to widespread social unrest.
