Nicolas Maduro
Nicolás Maduro is the current president of Venezuela, having taken office in April 2013 after the death of his predecessor, Hugo Chávez. Maduro was previously the vice president and has a background in trade unionism and politics. His leadership has been marked by significant economic challenges, including hyperinflation and shortages of basic goods.
Maduro's government has faced criticism for its handling of the economy and allegations of human rights abuses. He has been accused of undermining democracy by consolidating power and suppressing opposition. Despite this, he has maintained support from some sectors of the population and the military.
