Vedangas
Vedangas are six auxiliary disciplines that support the study and understanding of the Vedas, the ancient sacred texts of Hinduism. These disciplines include Shiksha (phonetics), Chandas (metrics), Vyakarana (grammar), Nirukta (etymology), Kalpa (rituals), and Jyotisha (astronomy). Each Vedanga plays a crucial role in preserving the correct pronunciation, interpretation, and application of the Vedic texts.
The purpose of the Vedangas is to ensure that the teachings of the Vedas are transmitted accurately across generations. By mastering these disciplines, scholars can better understand the rituals, hymns, and philosophies contained within the Vedas, thus maintaining the integrity of Hindu traditions and practices.
