Vedanga
Vedanga refers to a group of six auxiliary disciplines associated with the study of the Vedas, the ancient sacred texts of Hinduism. These disciplines include Shiksha (phonetics), Kalpa (rituals), Vyakarana (grammar), Nirukta (etymology), Chanda (metrics), and Jyotisha (astronomy). They serve to enhance the understanding and proper interpretation of the Vedic texts.
Each Vedanga plays a crucial role in preserving the integrity of the Vedic tradition. For instance, Shiksha focuses on pronunciation, ensuring that the sacred sounds are recited correctly, while Kalpa provides guidelines for performing rituals. Together, these disciplines form a comprehensive framework for studying and practicing the teachings of the Vedas.
