Vasa Dynasty
The Vasa Dynasty was a royal family that ruled Sweden from 1523 to 1654. It was founded by Gustav Vasa, who became king after leading a successful rebellion against Danish rule. The dynasty is known for strengthening Sweden's independence and expanding its territory during the Northern Wars.
Under the Vasa kings, Sweden transformed into a major European power. Notable rulers included Gustavus Adolphus, who is remembered for his military innovations and leadership during the Thirty Years' War. The dynasty ended with the death of Queen Christina, who abdicated the throne in 1654, marking a significant shift in Swedish history.
