Gustav Vasa
Gustav Vasa was a significant figure in Swedish history, known for leading the country to independence from Danish rule in the early 16th century. He became the first king of the modern Sweden after being elected in 1523, marking the beginning of the Vasa dynasty. His reign lasted until 1560, during which he strengthened the central authority of the monarchy.
Under Gustav Vasa's leadership, Sweden underwent important reforms, including the establishment of a Lutheran state church, which helped reduce the influence of the Catholic Church. He also promoted economic development and military organization, laying the foundation for a more unified and powerful nation.
