Valois-Burgundy
The term "Valois-Burgundy" refers to a historical union between the Valois dynasty of France and the Duchy of Burgundy. This alliance began in the late 14th century when the Valois kings sought to strengthen their power by marrying into the wealthy Burgundian family. The union significantly increased the influence of Burgundy in European politics.
During the 15th century, the Duke of Burgundy, particularly Philip the Good, expanded the territory and wealth of the duchy, making it a major power in Western Europe. The Valois-Burgundy alliance ultimately ended with the death of Charles the Bold in 1477, leading to the absorption of Burgundy into the Habsburg Empire.
