Valle de los Reyes, or the Valley of the Kings, is an archaeological site in Egypt located on the west bank of the Nile River near Luxor. It served as the burial ground for many pharaohs and powerful nobles during the New Kingdom period, from the 16th to the 11th century BCE. The valley contains over 60 tombs, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun. The tombs in the valley are renowned for their elaborate decorations and inscriptions, which provide insights into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. The site is part of the larger Theban Necropolis, which includes other significant locations like Karnak and Hatshepsut's Temple.
