Unilateral Renal Agenesis
Unilateral Renal Agenesis is a congenital condition where one kidney fails to develop during fetal growth. This means that a person is born with only one functioning kidney, while the other kidney is absent. The remaining kidney usually compensates by growing larger and performing the work of both kidneys.
Most individuals with unilateral renal agenesis lead normal, healthy lives without significant health issues. However, they may be at a slightly higher risk for certain conditions, such as hypertension or kidney disease, later in life. Regular medical check-ups can help monitor kidney function and overall health.
