Ugandan Civil War
The Ugandan Civil War, which lasted from 1980 to 1986, was a conflict primarily between the government and various rebel groups, most notably the National Resistance Army (NRA) led by Yoweri Museveni. The war was rooted in political instability following the overthrow of Idi Amin and the subsequent leadership struggles in Uganda.
The conflict resulted in significant loss of life and displacement of people. The NRA eventually succeeded in capturing the capital, Kampala, in 1986, leading to Museveni's presidency. This marked the beginning of a new government, which aimed to stabilize the country and address the issues that had fueled the war.
