LRA Insurgency
The LRA Insurgency refers to the violent rebellion led by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) in northern Uganda since the late 1980s. The group, founded by Joseph Kony, aimed to establish a theocratic government based on a mix of Christian and African spiritual beliefs. The insurgency has resulted in widespread atrocities, including abductions, killings, and the displacement of millions.
The conflict has drawn international attention due to its impact on civilians and the use of child soldiers. Efforts to resolve the insurgency have included peace talks and military interventions, but the LRA has continued to operate in neighboring countries like South Sudan and the Central African Republic.
