Twenty-Fourth Dynasty
The Twenty-Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt was a short-lived period that lasted from approximately 732 to 720 BCE. It was characterized by the rule of the pharaohs from the city of Sais in the Nile Delta. This dynasty is notable for its attempts to restore the power of the pharaohs during a time of political fragmentation and foreign influence.
The most prominent ruler of this dynasty was Tefnakhte, who sought to unify Egypt but faced challenges from rival leaders and the expanding Assyrian Empire. The Twenty-Fourth Dynasty ultimately ended when it was absorbed into the Twenty-Fifth Dynasty, which was established by the Kushites from Nubia.
