Turoyo
Turoyo is a modern Aramaic language spoken primarily by the Assyrian people, particularly in regions of Syria, Iraq, and Turkey. It is part of the Semitic language family and has its roots in the ancient Aramaic spoken during the time of Jesus Christ. Turoyo is characterized by its unique phonetics and vocabulary, which have been influenced by surrounding languages such as Arabic and Turkish.
The language is often used in daily communication among Assyrian communities and is also taught in some schools. Turoyo has a rich oral tradition, with stories, songs, and folklore passed down through generations. Efforts are being made to preserve and promote Turoyo, as it faces challenges from globalization and the dominance of other languages.
