Tigranes the Great
Tigranes the Great was a king of Armenia who ruled from 95 to 55 BCE. He is known for expanding the Armenian Empire to its greatest extent, making it a significant power in the region. Tigranes established his capital at Tigranocerta, which became a cultural and economic center.
During his reign, Tigranes formed alliances with other powers, including Mithridates VI of Pontus. However, his expansionist ambitions led to conflicts with the Roman Republic, particularly during the campaigns of Lucullus and Pompey, which ultimately resulted in the decline of his empire.
