Pontus
Pontus is a figure from ancient mythology, often associated with the sea. In Greek mythology, he is considered a primordial deity, representing the deep sea and the vastness of the ocean. Pontus is the son of Gaia, the Earth, and is sometimes depicted as a personification of the sea itself.
In addition to being a deity, Pontus is also the name of a historical region located in northeastern Anatolia, along the southern coast of the Black Sea. This area was known for its rich culture and trade, particularly during the time of the Pontic Kingdom, which thrived from the 4th century BCE to the 1st century CE.
