Tannaic
The term "Tannaic" refers to the teachings and traditions of the Tannaim, a group of Jewish scholars active during the time of the Second Temple in Jerusalem, roughly from 10 to 220 CE. These scholars played a crucial role in the development of Rabbinic Judaism by interpreting and transmitting the Oral Torah, which complements the written Hebrew Bible.
Tannaic literature primarily consists of the Mishnah, a foundational text that organizes Jewish law and ethics. The teachings of the Tannaim are also found in the Talmud, which expands on the Mishnah and includes discussions and debates among later scholars, known as the Amoraim.
