Tannaic Period
The Tannaic Period refers to a time in Jewish history from approximately 10 to 220 CE, during which the Tannaim, or teachers, compiled and transmitted oral traditions. This period is significant for the development of the Mishnah, a foundational text of Jewish law that organizes and codifies these teachings.
During the Tannaic Period, the Jewish community faced various challenges, including the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. The Tannaim played a crucial role in preserving Jewish traditions and adapting them to new circumstances, ensuring the continuity of Jewish life and law in a changing world.
