Taegeuk
The term "Taegeuk" refers to a symbol in Korean culture that represents the concept of balance and harmony. It is often depicted as a circle divided into two swirling sections, one red and one blue, symbolizing the duality of opposites, such as Yin and Yang. This symbol is prominently featured in the South Korean national flag, known as the Taegeukgi, where it embodies the idea of cosmic balance.
In addition to its cultural significance, "Taegeuk" is also associated with Taekwondo, a popular Korean martial art. In this context, it refers to a series of patterns or forms, known as "hyung," that practitioners learn to develop their skills. Each Taegeuk form represents different principles and techniques, helping students progress in their training.
