Sybil of Jerusalem
Sybil of Jerusalem was a medieval noblewoman born around 1130, known for her role in the Kingdom of Jerusalem during the Crusades. She was the daughter of King Amalric I of Jerusalem and became a significant figure in the political landscape of the region. Sybil's marriage to Guy of Lusignan in 1170 led to her becoming queen consort, and her lineage was crucial for the succession of the throne.
After her brother, Baldwin IV, died in 1185, Sybil's claim to the throne became central to the kingdom's future. Her reign was marked by political strife and challenges, particularly regarding her son, Baldwin V, who was crowned king as a child. Sybil's life reflects the complexities of royal lineage and power struggles in the Crusader states.
