Swatantra Party
The Swatantra Party was an Indian political party founded in 1959 by C. Rajagopalachari, a prominent leader and freedom fighter. The party emerged as a response to the growing influence of socialism in India and aimed to promote individual freedom, free enterprise, and limited government intervention in the economy. It sought to represent the interests of the middle class and farmers.
The Swatantra Party gained popularity in the 1960s and participated in various state and national elections. However, it struggled to maintain its influence in the face of competition from larger parties like the Indian National Congress. By the late 1970s, the party's prominence declined, leading to its eventual dissolution.
