Sugarcane
Sugarcane is a tall, perennial grass native to tropical regions. It is primarily cultivated for its juice, which is rich in sucrose, a type of sugar. The plant grows in clumps and can reach heights of up to 13 feet. Sugarcane is harvested by cutting the stalks, which are then processed to extract the juice.
The juice from sugarcane is used to produce various products, including sugar, molasses, and rum. It is also a source of biofuel, as the fibrous residue left after juice extraction, known as bagasse, can be used to generate energy.
