Southern white rhino
The Southern white rhino is one of the largest species of rhinoceros, native to southern Africa. It has a broad, square-shaped mouth that is adapted for grazing on grass. This species can weigh up to 2,300 kilograms (5,000 pounds) and has two horns made of keratin, the same material as human nails.
Once on the brink of extinction, the Southern white rhino has made a remarkable recovery due to conservation efforts. Today, it is classified as near threatened, with populations primarily found in protected areas and national parks across South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
