Southern White Rhino
The Southern White Rhino is one of the largest species of rhinoceros, native to southern Africa. It has a broad mouth adapted for grazing on grasses and can weigh up to 2,300 kilograms (5,000 pounds). This species is known for its two horns, with the front horn being larger than the back.
Once on the brink of extinction due to poaching and habitat loss, the Southern White Rhino has made a remarkable recovery thanks to conservation efforts. Today, it is classified as near threatened, with populations primarily found in protected areas and national parks across South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
