South Arabian languages
The South Arabian languages are a group of Semitic languages primarily spoken in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Yemen and Oman. This language family includes several languages, such as Modern South Arabian languages like Mahri and Soqotri, which are distinct from the more widely known Arabic.
These languages have ancient roots, with historical evidence dating back to the Sabaean and Himyaritic civilizations. South Arabian languages are characterized by unique phonetic and grammatical features, setting them apart from other Semitic languages. They are considered endangered, with efforts underway to preserve and revitalize them.
