Soqotri
Soqotri is a Semitic language spoken primarily on Socotra, an island in the Arabian Sea that is part of Yemen. It is one of the few languages in the world that has retained many ancient features, making it unique among the languages of the region. Soqotri is primarily used by the local population and has several dialects that vary across different areas of the island.
The language is closely related to Arabic and Ge'ez, but it has distinct phonetic and grammatical characteristics. Soqotri is an important part of the island's cultural heritage, reflecting the history and identity of its speakers. Efforts are being made to preserve the language as globalization poses challenges to its continued use.
