Skerryvore Lighthouse
Skerryvore Lighthouse is a prominent lighthouse located on Skerryvore Reef, off the west coast of Scotland. Built between 1838 and 1844 by the engineer Alan Stevenson, it stands 48 meters tall, making it one of the tallest lighthouses in the UK. The lighthouse was designed to guide ships safely through the treacherous waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The structure is made of granite and features a distinctive white and black striped pattern. It was automated in 1994, eliminating the need for a resident keeper. Today, Skerryvore Lighthouse is recognized as a significant maritime landmark and is a symbol of Scotland's rich lighthouse heritage.
